When a man returns to his beachside hometown in Australia, he is humiliated in front of his teenage son by a local group of surfers who lay claim to his remote childhood beach. He received a six-minute standing ovation at the 77th Cannes Film Festival… The story unfolds as Cage arrives at a beach that holds great meaning for him. However, when he is ridiculed and banned from surfing there with his son, it sets off a series of events that gradually become detached from reality and make the audience question the very reality we are witnessing. One aspect I appreciate is the exploration of the sunk cost fallacy, the tendency to cling to an effort we have invested in even when the current costs outweigh the benefits. Having recently faced a similar decision, I understand how difficult it is to step back and accept defeat. Seeing this with Cage and the rest of the crew in the GL Theater was a very enjoyable experience.😄
